Softly Sleep is built with privacy at its core. We collect the minimum data necessary to give you a great sleep experience. We never sell your data, never run ads, and never share personal information with third parties.
What we collect
When you use Softly Sleep, we may collect:
- Account information — Your Apple ID email address when you sign in with Apple. This is used solely for authentication.
- Sleep session data — Session duration, tracks played, sleep quality ratings, and liked tracks. This powers your Recap and helps us improve track curation.
- Preferences — Settings you configure such as bedtime, wake time, fade duration, theme, and orb style.
- Heart rate data — If you choose to sync with Apple Watch, we read your resting heart rate to personalize music tempo. This data stays on your device and is not uploaded to our servers.
What we don't collect
- We do not collect location data.
- We do not collect contacts, photos, or messages.
- We do not use analytics SDKs or third-party trackers.
- We do not run advertising of any kind.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with anyone.
HealthKit
Softly Sleep integrates with Apple HealthKit to read resting heart rate data. This data is used exclusively on your device to calculate a target sleep music tempo. We do not store, transmit, or share any HealthKit data with our servers or any third party. HealthKit data is never used for advertising or marketing purposes.
Offline data
Downloaded tracks are stored locally on your device in the app's sandboxed storage. This data is not accessible to other apps and is removed when you uninstall Softly Sleep or manually delete downloads.
Data storage
Session data and preferences are stored on our servers to enable features like Recap and cross-device sync. Our servers are hosted on Railway with encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Audio files are stored in Supabase Storage with signed, time-limited access URLs.
Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you wish to delete your account and all associated data, contact us at the email below and we will process your request within 30 days.
Children's privacy
Softly Sleep is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
